Welcome to the magical world of German Christmas sweets! In this pastry class, you will be introduced to a delicious collection of traditional and contemporary treats. These recipes will make the hearts of gourmets soar. Discover the wonderful diversity of Christmas sweets and discover Stollen stuffed with poppy seeds, marzipan, and apples; Elisen gingerbread that can be created in less than an hour; beautiful and colorful window pane cookies; and the raisin butter sandwiches that are very popular in Japan as well!
The holiday season is the season of baking and I invite you to join me in exploring the traditions and delights of German Christmas pastries. My recipes have been carefully selected and some have been lovingly passed down from generation to generation. Some of them have been in my family for over 150 years, passed down from our grandmothers and are still part of our festivities today.
In Germany, plates of colorful sweets have a long tradition and lead to a daily wait for Christmas. Adults and children alike choose their favorite cookies for afternoon tea. But every year the same problem arises. There are too many tempting cookies to choose from, and in trying to sample them all, we end up eating too many cookies. But this is part of the fun of Christmas!
Another part of the fun is visiting friends and family and seeing their colorful plates of cookies. Discover new cookies and try some that you haven’t made at home. Tasting and sharing sweets together brings people together and creates wonderful memories.
In this pastry class, we will help you experience the magic of German Christmas pastries and share your delicious creations. We hope these recipes will enrich your vacation and bring warmth and happiness to your heart. Merry Christmas and happy baking!
